About Gusto Etna
The pasta of western Sicily
Gusto Etna is a Sicilian brand of pistachio creams, nuts and sweets, and this busiata is their classic pasta. Busiata is a long twisted spiral, traditionally made in the Trapani area, and its grooves hold sauce better than almost any shape.
The classic match is pesto: try it with Gusto Etna pistachio pesto or Trapanese pesto. It is also great with tomato sauces and ragu, shrimp and tuna, or simply olive oil, garlic and lemon. Cook it al dente; it keeps cooking a little once tossed with the sauce.
Ingredients
Sicilian durum wheat, water. Contains wheat.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Ideal for
Pesto
Pistachio or Trapanese pesto clings to every spiral.
Tomato & ragu
Hearty sauces with sausage, mushrooms or eggplant.
Olive oil & garlic
A quick weeknight dish with good olive oil.
Good to know
What is busiata?
A traditional Sicilian pasta from the Trapani area: long strands twisted into a spiral. The grooves hold sauce very well.
Which sauce goes best with it?
Pesto is the classic. Try our pistachio pesto. It is also great with tomato sauces, ragu and seafood.
How do I cook it?
Boil in plenty of salted water and drain it al dente, then toss with the sauce and a splash of pasta water. It keeps cooking a little in the sauce, so do not overcook it.
How many servings are in a bag?
A 500 g bag serves about 4 to 5 people as a main course.
Is there a pistachio version?
Yes. Try our pistachio busiata, made with durum wheat and 10% pistachio.
