Good to know
Where are they from?
Bronte, in Sicily, a town on the slopes of Mount Etna known for its pistachios. They are a product of Italy.
Are they roasted or raw? Salted?
Roasted and unsalted, so they taste toasted and nutty, not salty. For raw kernels to grind into flour or paste, see our raw shelled pistachios (1 kg).
Why are they smaller and purple-green?
That is how Sicilian pistachios look: smaller kernels with a natural purple skin and green inside, and a more intense flavor than larger pistachios.
How do I use them in savory dishes?
Chop them over burrata, salads, fish or pasta with pistachio pesto, or on pizza with mortadella.
How should I store them?
Keep them in a cool, dry place and seal the bag tightly after opening.
